SPEAKER_01

Government IT workers by day, persuasion enthusiasts, and verbal cage fighters the rest of the time.

SPEAKER_00

If you'd like to take your persuasion game to godlike levels, grab yourself your favorite stimulant and get ready for the persuasion hit of the day. It's the Persuasion Club podcast. And it starts now.

SPEAKER_01

Now I was trying to I was trying to time the delay there too.

SPEAKER_05

Hey.

SPEAKER_00

We are live and we're on time today. Um that's the the beauty. Um things are actually flowing in the right direction for us today. Welcome everybody to uh episode 13. We actually uh this is the the the odd 13 uh episode.

SPEAKER_01

A lot of people would skip this episode, but we are brave.

SPEAKER_00

We're brave, yeah. I uh actually think it might be our lucky episode. Um it's a reframe for this evening. How's that? I like the way you're looking at it. Yeah, that's a good way to look at it. Yeah. Uh Steven, what what have you been up to all weekend?

SPEAKER_01

Well, I've been deconstructing a structure in my backyard. So get getting taken down a shed, and that took a whole day yesterday with some helpers and a lot of pizza and a lot of water and uh and got it taken care of. And I I also moved my office in into a different room. So I look totally the same.

SPEAKER_00

It looks totally the same. You moved offices, uh I kept it. Yeah, you would never know. You would never know. That's pretty cool. Actually, it's kind of funny that you're moving offices because I just moved into this one here. Um, you can actually still things are a bit of a shamble, so but uh sounds like you got some great work done this weekend.

SPEAKER_01

Oh man, I'm exhausted, but yes, very productive.

SPEAKER_00

How about you? Um, mostly the same. Uh, been totally working on a lot of persuasion club stuff getting ready for tonight. Very excited to share with folks some of the new things that are uh um gonna be available into a little bit of trivia. It's my turn to actually do some trivia, and it's your turn to drive because uh Steven now has the uh controls completely for running the game tonight, and so um you know control.

SPEAKER_01

Kevin's in the hot seat.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, about time I get uh put into the hot seat. So um anyway, um I think we can we could dive in here, but I wanted to uh for a second uh take a moment to show people some of the the cool things that we've been working on here. Uh so if everything works correctly here, I can show the browser control. Does that work? No, that's not gonna work. Um yeah, that might not work until later on. So we'll we'll we'll do that part later on, um, where I can actually show you a bit of cool stuff in um in the hopper. I always thought that I had that actually queued up here.

SPEAKER_01

So is the website ready to share? Like uh Yeah. Have we shown have you shown the website on the podcast?

SPEAKER_00

That's what I've been wanting to do. Have you been checking it out by any chance?

SPEAKER_01

I just loaded it up earlier.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, okay. Yeah, that's that's the cool stuff. Um I um I would have to go and there's a uh utility within our podcast tool that I've been working on that should allow me to share the website. I'm just having a little bit of troubles getting that to to pop up right now.

SPEAKER_01

So um we got all the time in the world. We started on time. Yeah, yeah. That's it, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I think what we could do is we could kind of jump into a little bit of some of that game stuff um and just see what where where that goes. Uh just hop right into that. So you wanted um I'll go ahead and turn that live. And Steven, now you have control over uh that. Uh-oh. 80s music. Is that what we're doing tonight?

SPEAKER_01

Hey, oh uh yes. Uh I clicked on load around for uh the 80s uh 80s music trivia. Are you you could I mean you being a big rush fan. Oh, I don't know.

SPEAKER_00

It's totally up to you, but I think we we gotta do a little persuasion trivia tonight.

SPEAKER_01

So yes, uh yeah. Oh I meant uh what I meant below was uh the uh influence.

SPEAKER_00

We can do the 80s stuff in the after show if you want. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

All right, here we go. So uh well, uh last couple times we've done this uh game, it was I I was answering the questions and and we were going through this, so now is your time to answer. And are you good with the full round influence, the full book round?

SPEAKER_00

The full book, wow. Um, yeah, yeah. I think I'm comfortable with that, to be honest with you. I've been uh I've been kind of like doing Chelgini style karate on people at work all week.

SPEAKER_01

So nice. Okay, I like it. I like it.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, should I tell people about that? Like uh real quick, I gotta say, I had to do my because we tied this into our uh path goals. Remember, remember those PAF, uh pointless as fuck? No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, that's not what it was. You got yours coming up, huh? Yeah, yeah. We actually took and turned the tables, and instead of our our uh PAFs being pointless as fuck, they're like uh I don't know what the the the right terminology is, but we we totally I totally blew my boss away. Said that Steven and I had read all of the persuasion stuff uh from Cialdini, um, and that I was able to quote the seven principles and write them on the whiteboard um without looking them up.

SPEAKER_01

So that's awesome. That's uh that's huge. And I feel like when you can uh I feel like sometimes you get the vibe that like even your manager sometimes doesn't always want to go through some of those uh you know professional goals things, or like they're just kind of like you know, so uh what would you like to talk about? You know, it's kind of like it's totally uh on your plate, you know, to make sure that you're you have things ready, which uh there's been a lot of times where I haven't been that prepared. So to have someone like you come in and and be like super prepared and have like actually like interesting content to talk about, I'm sure that was refreshing for your manager.

SPEAKER_00

Do you think so? I really do actually. I think it blew her away. So um, and but uh I was I was the first of her like uh 20 direct reports or whatever that she has that uh she was kind of dreading it, she was like really not looking forward to it, and she was super charged up after I was done. So uh thank you, Robert Shaldini, and well, Persuasion Club too, because that's get all excited about this stuff, man.

SPEAKER_01

That's cool because it's something that I feel like doesn't always have a lot of energy behind it, because you know, uh sometimes people just are happy where they're at and they don't really want to think about much more than whatever they're doing. Uh so this is very like extracurricular and also like multiplies your effectiveness at your job. So I feel like that's something as a manager that would be really cool, you know, and hear about that people are actually doing cool things outside of work that actually apply to work because they care. I think that's the big thing, is that like caring caring is a good thing. Yes, yes.

SPEAKER_00

And it does I I agree with you that that caring sometimes can can seem uh a little laxodasal. Is that the right word? Yeah, like lacking, yeah, like missing. Yeah, well, hey, hit hit me with this uh persuasion uh stuff, man. Let's do it to it.

SPEAKER_01

All right, we have 15 questions, Kevin. I'm gonna start with the one penny question our way to $10. Here we go. Which which principle of persuasion does this describe? Oh, wait, reciprocity. That is the description. The description is the answer.

SPEAKER_00

I wonder if the description I wonder what that we might have seen this one before. Uh yeah, this feels very familiar. Why don't you load a different round and let me let me do that? Yeah, I think uh yeah, because if we did this one, it would be boring. People would be like going, hey, let me do that. Let me do one.

SPEAKER_01

Let's go s let's go based on uh Unity chapter and see if we find luck there. Are you cool with that?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, that'd be totally cool.

SPEAKER_01

All right, here we go. Question number one. Unity works by moving people from thinking you and I toward thinking what? I know this one by thinking maybe, by thinking enough, by thinking we or by thinking later.

SPEAKER_00

Well, Regis, I don't know. But you know, I think, yeah, go ahead, hit me with the C. Come on. Okay, okay. Final answer.

SPEAKER_01

Locking in on C. Is that your I mean you sounded confident, but is that your final answer? Yeah, you got it, man. All right, let's lock it in and see the outcome. Hey.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, yeah, by the way, we're still working on the sounds. If anybody had noticed, we're still providing our own sound effects for this thing tonight. So yeah, uh, there are sounds. We've been working on them. I kid you not. Um, and great job. Yeah, next week we'll probably have them actually. Thank you.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, thank you. That was a great answer. All right, question number two moving up the ladder. Which of these is a Unity Q? A free sample, a fellow member, board certified, or last chance?

SPEAKER_00

Regis, I'm gonna go with B, fellow member.

SPEAKER_01

Final answer. Final answer. Okay, let's see if you are right or wrong.

SPEAKER_05

Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding!

SPEAKER_01

It's always good to see green when you want when you want that money. Okay, moving on to question three. This is moving quickly. What kind of bond does the unity chapter treat persuasive? Countdown timing, color matching, kinship, or random comparison.

SPEAKER_00

Oh my goodness. Uh thinking I'm gonna do with the the kinship C final answer.

SPEAKER_01

Let's lock that final answer in and ding, ding, ding, ding, ding!

SPEAKER_00

Hey, give me some harder questions, man. Come on.

SPEAKER_01

Hey, hey, though, you know, we're just getting you warmed up because that ten dollars is very far away. Let's move into question number four. The speaker says, We're both raising kids in this town. What is the main persuasive move? Highlighting scarcity, highlighting shared identity, offering reciprocity, or claiming authority.

SPEAKER_00

Uh, this one's an easy one too. I'm um gonna say B, highlighting shared identity for their for the win.

SPEAKER_01

That must be that does seem to ring true with the unity. Let's see if it's the rectangle. Ding ding ding ding ding. Number one. Okay.

SPEAKER_00

This is going along pretty smoothly and it's working pretty well tonight. I'm uh I'm happy to say.

SPEAKER_01

So yeah, everything is uh looking really nice. It's really well. And also having running running it for the first time, it feels very nice. Build. Thank you. Let's go to the question number five. Which phrase is least related to Unity? Ooh, good. This is a good for our neighborhood. As alumni, we know the value of this place, meanwhile, supplies last. And one of our own needs help.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, this is one of those that could throw you. Um, but I do think that only while supplies last would probably be more of a scarcity thing as opposed to a unity thing. So I'm gonna go with C uh final answer.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, I like the I like the thought process. Let's see.

SPEAKER_05

Ding ding! Yay!

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, nice, very nice. I know you're doing great. Haven't missed one yet, because if you missed, it would be over.

SPEAKER_00

So yeah, and if folks don't remember when we played last week, um, and I think even the week before, didn't you hit the 10 bucks? I think I owe you 20 bucks.

SPEAKER_01

All the way, yeah. This is monopoly money, right? Because uh my monopoly is missing a few ten dollar bills.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I was gonna say no reciprocity with a ten dollar bill, my friend. That ain't gonna work, so all right.

SPEAKER_01

Let's go to question number six. Why can shared rituals or tradition strengthen unity? They make expertise irrelevant, they automatically create discounts, they eliminate all uncertainty, or they remind people that they belong to the same group. Group?

SPEAKER_00

Unity, unity, group. I'm gonna go with D.

SPEAKER_01

Going with D. Okay. Final answer. They remind people that they belong to the same group. Ding ding ding ding ding. Hey, all right. You know, I'm gonna, you know that that that mode that you can turn on and off? I'm gonna turn off.

SPEAKER_00

Oh why you think we're getting we're bordering? Are we bordering on some dangerous moves here? Maybe we'll get a wrong answer. Yeah, I think you better be careful.

SPEAKER_01

All right, all right. Okay, question number seven. Which example shows unity rather than social? The donor gives because the appeal came from fellow veterans, the donor gives after receiving a free gift, donor gives because a judge endorsed the cause, donor gives because thousands already donate.

SPEAKER_00

Which example shows unity rather than social proof? Okay, so this is one of those questions, and you know this, they are getting a little bit harder, so uh gotta think about them a little bit.

SPEAKER_01

They're getting trickier.

SPEAKER_00

Um, so which example shows unity rather than social proof? Um, so I feel like social proof is definitely in D because thousands already donated, so that's like a social proof thing. Um B, a donor gives after receiving a gift. That feels like a reciprocity thing. So I think the B is out. So I would eliminate those two. Um let's see. A, let's see, a donor gives because the appeal came from fellow veterans. So that's that's unity, fellow veterans. That word fellow is probably that key word in there. Um C is gonna be a donor gives because a judge endorsed the cause, so that's going to be authority, probably, is what I would say C is. So I'm gonna go with A. Final answer.

SPEAKER_01

With A locking it in. Let's see if you're correct. Ding ding ding ding. Fuck yes.

SPEAKER_00

Hell yes, I'm correct. Process of elimination. Yeah. But I might have to use a live line at this rate, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, you've you've knocked them all out. You're at two dollars. You've answered so many questions correctly.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, that's I could buy myself a Coke. That's what you could buy for two bucks these days.

SPEAKER_01

That's about yeah, exactly. And careful because tomorrow it could be 2.05.

SPEAKER_00

And then you won't even be able to buy a Coke. Gasoline. Jeez, could take out a load.

SPEAKER_01

Oh man, I drove, I I drove to the uh to dump like a bunch of shed wood off, and uh I saw that gas was $4.99 at the cheapest price I saw. Wow. That's crazy. That is crazy.

SPEAKER_00

Well, what that's cheap, but yeah, for us here in Oregon, that's uh not so much.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, that's I mean, $4.99 here means like I don't even know what it is in LA, like $15 a gallon. I have no idea, but uh it's it's crazy. And that happened overnight. So yeah, yeah, that's been the way of it. Oh, oh, okay. Sorry, question number eight. Here we go. A persuader references shared ancestry. What are they hoping to create with this shared ancestry? A better discount would be a higher word count, a more urgent deadline, or a deeper sense of relatedness and trust.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, see that's kind of back to a simple one. I'll take D, final answer. Okay, let's let's lock it in.

SPEAKER_01

Oh no, you're correct! I made the uh I made the incorrect sound. Why would you do that to me, Regis? I'm not hoping that uh no and what I'm uh we're moving on to question at number I thought it said five for a second. We are at question number nine. Why does the phrase our people carry persuasive for? It proves that the claim is scientifically true, it links the message to identity and group loyalty always more concise. Or it removes the need for any audience.

SPEAKER_00

Well, B seems to me like the obvious answer. But before we lock that in, I'm gonna think about that because I don't trust computers. Um yeah. So um our because the yes, C looks like a possible answer. I'm not really worried about A or D being possible answers, but it it is potentially more concise. Why does that R people? But it doesn't feel like it's any more concise than any of the other answers. So and B felt like the right answer. So I'm gonna go ahead and go with B. And I promise I'll use the the audience lifeline for sure coming up. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Um yeah, you have a 50-50 and ask audience and phone a friend.

SPEAKER_00

Which yeah, so the audience ought to get ready um to vote at some point here soon. Um be prepared. Yeah, be prepared. Let's lock it in.

SPEAKER_01

Let's lock in your answer and see the outcome. Oh yeah! Good job. Way to stay green. Okay, let's look at the ladder. That was question, I believe, number nine, which would put you at four dollars. And uh, so this will be question number ten for five. Um be rich. Five right. Which message best uses Unity in a practical appeal? No refunds after today. Try one free and maybe decide later. Or as fellow builders of this community, let's invest in its future.

SPEAKER_00

So I'm surprised that this is a uh what was it, a four dollar question, five dollar question here? Um because that's kind of like up there on the ladder, don't you think? And uh I I feel like this one is pretty, pretty easy. So, but uh I mean I guess that maybe that also uh illustrates just how easy the old uh unity principle is, because uh you just gotta look for words like group or fellow or things like that. So I I feel D is the answer here. Gonna lock it in.

SPEAKER_01

You know, uh they it it would be like I feel like liking or there's there's like other principles that are very similar to you. And some of these though are like using like reciprocity, which is not super similar to you. But yeah, like again, D.

SPEAKER_00

Sorry, now I'm just uh No, it's okay, cuz you you've made a note of something that I've kind of noticed there are is a little bit of crossover in some of the principles.

SPEAKER_01

So yeah, yeah, there's some things like, oh well, I'm because we're alike, but not necessarily because we're part of the triad or a group, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So yeah, so but it gets c uh let's see if you're correct with D. Hell yes, I am. Oh yeah. Good job. Let's go on to 11. Out of 15. Here we go. We're in the final third. What makes unity more than just finding a superficial similarity? We were kind of just on topic. Uh it requires a celebrity, depends on low inventory. The identity has to feel meaningful enough to shape norms and loyalty. Only work with written letters.

SPEAKER_00

Well, B and D are kind of ridiculous answers, if you ask me. So maybe we could eliminate those. And A doesn't sound right at all. So again, kind of surprised that what is this, six six bucks on the line here? But I'm willing to risk it, risk it all here on C.

SPEAKER_01

Risking it all, Kevin. Yep. Can't believe it. This is a bulls move. I know.

SPEAKER_00

I don't know what I'll do.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I'll be I'm I'm let's reveal it.

SPEAKER_00

My name's gonna be disgraced forever. Ah, yeah, no, hey, I got it. Family name saved.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, keep hold on to that pride of yours and follow your guy. That was great. Okay, it's gonna keep climbing the ladder. $11. Question number 12. So far, six dollars. Yes, this is for seven. Which advanced application of Unity is most persuasive, avoiding any mention of the audience, showing how the requested behavior expresses the group's value, using random scarcity cues instead, or ignoring values and focusing on colors. Wow.

SPEAKER_00

Well, I'm either like super smart of these questions, are like super easy, and I'm gonna say it's probably both. Uh I mean, you're pretty smart, Kevin.

SPEAKER_01

So Well, I don't know.

SPEAKER_00

I mean last time I checked, I uh yeah, no, I'm skidding around. I'm too full of myself here. I'm just only a bit full of myself.

SPEAKER_01

This is basically an IQ test and and you haven't missed anything.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, hasn't been too bad. Well, um, because you know the the it's easy to spot like the the e the the right answers because they're kind of a little more concise, you know. So showing how the requested behavior, you know, it just doesn't sound the same as the other answer. So yeah. B final answer. Let's do it.

SPEAKER_01

Let's do it. E, final answer. Showing how the requested behavior expresses the group's values. Oh, I thought I pushed it before I said that. You're like, wait, you know, I I was like, it's gonna lag. Uh good job. Great answer. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you very much. 13 of 15. We only have a few more left. All right. Why can fake unity claims damage persuasion? Because fake claims always lower prices. Because authenticity never matters. Because unity requires formal contract. Or because audiences often reset resent identity appeals that feel.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah. Uh well, I am going to um they feel manufactured actually. It shows up on my on the screen here, so I think uh um that's one of them. But for fun, uh since we have these lifelines available to us, let's do a 50-50.

SPEAKER_01

Okay. Want to use the lifeline for 50-50. Let's get rid of two. Oh, that was fast. Yeah. A and B just disappeared like that.

SPEAKER_00

Isn't that cool? Um, okay, so so well, that's good. Uh pig B. I was kidding.

SPEAKER_01

Well, good thing uh uh D's final answer, thank you very much. D final answer, lock it in. Let's do it.

SPEAKER_05

Ding ding ding ding ding woo.

SPEAKER_01

Wonderful. Let's get a look at the ladder one last time before the game is over. We're almost there. Two questions left climbed all the way up. Let's not fall. Next question. From the audience's perspective, a strong unity appeal can make helping feel like what? Helping one obeying a timer, buying a luxury, or ignoring social ties.

SPEAKER_00

This is a great question to use the ask the audience lifeline on, if you ask me.

SPEAKER_01

Hey, I think that that we can do that. So ask the audience.

SPEAKER_00

Let's see uh how hopefully this one's self-explanatory too, but let me know if you need to. You'll notice that the timer that pops up pops up uh uh 20 seconds, and you're gonna want to reset that to something more like 60, maybe even 80.

SPEAKER_01

I just uh is 75 okay. Okay, and whatever you want. Okay, let's see. We've got uh 75 seconds. We're gonna get a link. Let's see, what is the link?

SPEAKER_00

It's right there on the screen for everybody to see.

SPEAKER_01

Um now it's uh oh, it's on the screen right now. So please visit the uh link on the screen. Vote.persuasion. I'm going to start the countdown. You get a chance to give your answer. Let's see how it goes.

SPEAKER_00

This is that special time of the podcast where the cat shows up.

SPEAKER_01

I I have one around my feet somewhere.

SPEAKER_00

Wait, there's a cat. Hello, Oswen. We'll talk about Oswen later in the podcast. She's actually on the cat. It's going. I can see it on the screen. It's uh can't tell if we've had any votes yet.

SPEAKER_01

Is it when I go to the site that on the screen it I I went to just make sure that it was in it it doesn't voting at the moment?

SPEAKER_00

Oh, you know what? That might have been one of the things that broke with um some of my latest updates to the site. Oh that's it's supposed to actually be showing folks the the poll right now, but if it's not, then that's on me.

SPEAKER_01

It shows a poll, but it there's no voting uh you won't you just can't choose uh it shows the right uh information, but it has to vote. But hey, progress.

SPEAKER_00

Hang on just a second. Um I want to see something real quick. Okay.

SPEAKER_01

I and I clicked reset the lifeline because it didn't work. So I think it it it still has it enabled.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, you want to run that poll again, see what happens. I can tell you I'm at the vote link now. I just want to see what happens. Yeah, and I see it coming up.

SPEAKER_01

And let's uh click the start countdown.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, this looks like we maybe have had a little bit of a regression here because at this point in time, if you're at the the link, you should be getting choices and you should be able to vote. Um I I didn't test any of this because it's not a portion of the site that I even worked on uh this week. So unfortunately, I don't know. Isn't that funny?

SPEAKER_01

Technology, in technology, you change something and something totally unrelated totally affected. It's like that's so crazy. But it happens. Oh, yeah. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

So, audience, I'm so sorry that you don't get to participate this time. That one's on me. Um, trust me, it's pretty cool. I know that some of uh like Dara, he's he's been one of our uh regulars, but it doesn't sound like it's gonna work for us tonight. We'll be back working.

SPEAKER_01

You could you could if you could just yell your answer out uh you're able to answer it, we'll receive the waves through the air.

SPEAKER_00

That's right, that's what I'm bringing on, bring it on, man. I'm I'm feeling it now. I'm feeling like people are telling me to. I think people are telling me, hmm. I think they're telling me A helping one's own.

SPEAKER_01

Is that your final answer? I think it is my final answer, man. All right, let's reveal that outcome. Oh, heck yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Good job.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, that was totally the audience on that one. I had no clue until they started channeling.

SPEAKER_01

And then when that's very nice that they I I mean, I think I at least heard one person. Yeah. I got it, yeah. This might have been actually a homeless person outside. But uh, which sentence? This is the final question. Uh, which sentence best expresses the chapter's deepest message? Influence depends only on fear. Influence works best without any relationship. Influence can be strongest when the boundary between persuader and influence is mainly a matter of visual layout.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, another little bug uh that we need to fix in the gaming system that's been pestering us for the last couple weeks here since we started, is that uh sometimes those answers are a little long and they were the box is not big enough to contain them. So we either need to get shorter answers or bigger boxes or something. But um I uh totally believe, and I really don't need too much help with this uh right now, Regis, uh, that C is the um final answer, even with those dot dot dots. So hopefully I don't blow them.

SPEAKER_01

I like those dot dot dots. They help guide me to the right answer, I think, is what I believe.

SPEAKER_00

I'm going with it, man. Or maybe I'm just still getting audience vibes. It's very possible. Hell yes, dun dun dun dun. Alright. The lights beautiful. Yeah, so that's yeah. Um another chance for the audience to check out our game. Um, I think it was fun. Uh, just my first time that I actually got to play it. So um that's pretty neat. Well, um thanks for hosting, Steve. That's cool. I think you're an excellent host, by the way. Um thank you. Thank you.

SPEAKER_01

Thanks for putting that up together. I for people that don't know it, it's it's Kevin that's building this. Or unless you don't want me to say that out loud. Um, it's probably okay.

SPEAKER_00

No, not at all.

SPEAKER_01

You're the brainchild, so uh that's yeah, so it's uh it it's exciting because seeing it come together is like it's evolved so quickly. So for that to go that smoothly, and and uh you are you already know what to fix with that voting thing, so it's very impressive.

SPEAKER_00

Well, thank you. Yeah, well I I have a little bit of help here, you know, there's there's there's things and stuff like that. But uh we all have help we we've did it for different things too. Yeah, we we've definitely uh taking advantage of the the tools that are available to us to put together some pretty cool stuff for our show, uh, just because we've really got a vision for this and what we where we want to go with it. Um so the game is just like one one piece of it, and that um was kind of like when we've been doing our trivia segments um in the earlier episodes. You know, we're only on episode 13 now, and we went from an audio-only podcast to this in 13 episodes, not too bad, really. Um but yeah, but but and the trivia was fun. I'll I'll grant you that. I think the trivia was pretty fun even without all this jazzed up gaming stuff. Um, I I always enjoyed it. I was pretty sure like the the next to our dual thing, this was like gonna be like our next bit, you know, our more favorite kind of segment, because it really gives you a chance to put your persuasion knowledge, you know, to the test and and grow your skills. So um, but yeah, it was just like okay, but we we could really uh jazz this up. Uh we we were kind of joking about millionaire one night, I think, in one of the episodes, and it's just like, hey, yeah, we could do millionaire, right? You know, we could. So and um here we are.

SPEAKER_01

That worked really well, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And not only that, but um the way that that's been designed um is uh pretty doggone cool. We're gonna be able to allow other people to use that gaming engine, we're gonna make it available for people to just play the games uh online from our website. Um, we're gonna be adding other games um as well. So if you've got ideas for things that you'd like to turn into um persuasion type quiz shows or whatever, um there's a lot of stuff we can do. So um, yeah. Hey, uh you mentioned earlier, Steven, um, about maybe um taking a tour of the website because we've uh done quite a bit of stuff and uh it ties into some of our other goals this evening um as well, as you'll see as we kind of uh go along here. So um you said you had a chance to look at this earlier?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I uh yeah, I've looked at it several times. I feel like it's it's evolved even over the few times I've looked at it, and I think it's much more interesting and also interactive sites that I've been to.

SPEAKER_00

Thank you. This is the goal uh because what we want to do is make um everything interactive. We want people to come and hang out with us, we want to get to know you and uh make you part of our club. So um now I have to tell you, there's uh kind of a uh a turn of events here, is like I felt like we had to go strong, and when we first very first started up, I got us signed up for locals. Remember, uh I was always talking about locals and how we had to get on locals, and there are communities within locals um that are really awesome, one of them being the Scott Adams community for sure. Um, but locals is also um you know a bit of money, and we're kind of on a budget and stuff like that, and I had to kind of figure out like where to do some cuts. So like I cut the YouTube premium, um, but I also cut the locals um because I feel like our website has evolved to uh a level now where it can kind of pretty much handle um a lot of the things that I wanted to do with locals, and that maybe at some point when we get into exclusive content we can go back to locals and and get back into that. But we're yeah, we're stepping back from that for a moment just to save a few bucks. So that's smart, that's smart.

SPEAKER_01

I I've been trying to find ways of uh getting rid of some subscriptions in my own life, so yeah, uh yeah, it's it's good at that.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, one of these days, you know, that might not even be an issue. We could just you know do whatever, but uh I've also been very focused on trying to make this uh um little venture of ours uh affordable. So yeah. Um yeah, so let me show you the cool stuff that we've got going on. So um this little section here on the right um that shows us watching the game, that uh little content, all of these uh pieces of content uh are now controllable through um a custom built admin site and stuff. So it's I can show you that stuff later on when nobody else is uh watching here, but we can easily update that little section for whatever uh our next show is gonna be and such. And then you get down into here and um it's just a walkthrough of what our show is all about. But then in here is where you get into some of the neat stuff. We are um recommending different books that you might enjoy. Um, So Good They Call You a Fake is a Joshua Lysic. I think I'm saying that correct um book that we uh purchased and have been going through. Might be a potential candidate uh for um maybe a read through or a uh a season as we're referring to to seasons now of where we go through a book. Um Customers for Life is an oldie but goody one that I uh gave to Steven and said, Hey, check this out. I don't know, it might be fun. It's not necessarily persuasion, but I think it adds a persuasion twist to it, so I definitely suggest that you read it. And um, then we gotta demonetize your mind. That's uh from Doc Hypnosis. And I'm gonna say I don't know as much about Doc Hypnosis. I love his stuff on X. I follow him, retweet some of his stuff or whatever. I have not read this book yet, uh, but I know it's um I gotta get it um and and read it because I think uh he's been uh promoting that and it it's just intriguing enough to me um that I think that we're gonna have to check that out. Um hypnosis, as you know, um is a um uh let's just put it this way, I think it's a a tool in the persuaders toolbox. Um of course we talk about ethics and stuff like that, and we're not talking about like the type of hypnosis that gets people to do what you want. Well, maybe, you know.

SPEAKER_01

I mean you can't yes, I yeah, exactly. Persuasion, I feel like influence and hypnosis like definitely go hand in hand.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. So unfortunately, there was another build regression, and the featured video that I had on here is gone back to this crazy old thing. It's supposed to be a cure of the dawn um in his uh video. Um, his great video, uh, author yourself. Um, so I'll get that uh working again here later on because that's what that's supposed to be highlighting. And then, of course, our Who Wants to be a Persuader game. Um down here, uh the rules of Persuasion Club are there for everybody now. You can go and check those out. You can even click listen. I don't know if they're gonna work for us. Fourth rule?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, one persuasion battle at a time.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, please.

SPEAKER_04

That's perfect.

SPEAKER_00

Isn't that cool? Cool movie lights, movie poster effect thing that we did there. That's pretty pretty cool stuff. And then down here is where you can get into book suggestions. So if anybody, this is really what I wanted to talk about is that if anybody actually uh has book ideas for what you'd like to see us um covering on the show, this is where you get to do it. Um, and then we'll um get people to vote on those. So I uh highly encourage people to put your suggestions into there. Um, and then these are uh links to all the videos recapping our season one uh trip through uh the influence book. So you go back and watch any of those.

SPEAKER_01

Awesome.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Over here's our some of our clip videos that we started making. We haven't made many clip videos lately, but um we'll we'll kind of throw those in there um at some point here around the club, just kind of uh different links to our social media. Um this section here is just kind of our latest ex post, but it's uh not really because I haven't updated that. And we have uh people to follow. So you remember we were talking a little bit here, a bit about doc hypnosis. You go follow him right there, Owen Gregorian. He's kind of one of the uh folks that took over um uh the spot that Scott Adams uh held and is doing the School of Scott Adams show. Um that's down here, you can click on that. So anyway, just check out those folks, these are cool people we like. Um and what else? Um, you know, there were there unfortunately was even uh another bit in here that I wanted to show you, and it's not pulling up today because I think that something happened with the build.

SPEAKER_01

So I I've been following along with you, and there is one section called Persuader of the Day.

SPEAKER_00

Persuader, yeah. That's supposed to be working, then I don't know why it's not working right now because it was one of the ones that I see it.

SPEAKER_01

Um I see it from my side, yeah. I saw another section like uh the persuasion hit of the day, which suggests uh looks like a let me try this uh for just a second.

SPEAKER_00

I'm gonna stop the screen sharing on here, and then I'm gonna see if it'll allow me to screen share. Um, bring up the right website on my tab first before I share it, because that's always a good idea.

SPEAKER_01

Screen sharing is always like a sensitive thing. You don't need to. Yeah. Because like uh sometimes like in like Firefox, like I have like where my bills that I pay are, you know, like a link to like a very specific bill that I pay, but the county that I live in kind of thing. It's like, oh that just that just pops up on share screen.

SPEAKER_00

And then it feels a little uh yeah, it's like, oh hey, everybody. Yeah, okay. So this is actually direct browser sharing, uh, whereas before we're using our special tools. So let's see if we uh can see some of the other stuff. There must have been some kind of a caching issue. I think that might be what it is. So yeah, so um there's this panel here, which uh wasn't rendering in the other one. Um so this one was created off of the slideshow uh that we did in last week's episode. Um and just goes through the seven um principles of influence, and you can just click the next button and see the different ones.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Decent page. Good.

SPEAKER_00

So I I think it would do that, except I don't know. Yeah, it'll do auto. If you hover over it, it pauses, and then you can advance them that way if you want to. So um, yeah, it's a nice way of just kind of seeing uh that uh those seven principles. Um and like if you wanted to whip those out on somebody, you just pull up your phone and go to persuasion.club and then just scroll down, and there you go. We got the seven principles right there. So um little note, yeah, little uh disclaimer there. Persuasion club is not officially endorsed by Robert Chieldini. Uh, but we do recommend that you buy his books anyway. So here we got the rules that we talked about, those are there. Book suggestions. See Win Bigley, I think is a yeah, this is the real stuff. Um, we talked about those or looked at those already. These are the clips, but I think what you're talking about, Stephen, is down here. So we have this new section here. Oh my goodness, yeah, I almost totally forgot about this. Um, the Persuasion Library. So, you know those different things. Um, Scott Adams would always talk about them. Um, some of them maybe Childini's, there's other people we've adapted a few of our own, but say, for instance, the 48-hour rule, um, which is that usually it's good a good idea to wait about 48 hours before locking in judgment on breaking news. So you're like, oh well, that's kind of interesting. Well, there's a whole bunch of these in our library. So if you go in here, we've got these frameworks, reframes, life hacks, and fallacies for sharper thinking. Most of these, we've got 47 in here now. We'll be adding a whole bunch more. Um, and then by media ready, it just means I've got images associated with most of these. But if you scroll down further here, I don't necessarily have the images in here yet. So it's a developing thing. But the way it works is you can just go in and say, Well, I want to know mostly just about oh, so you can't see that as well. I've got to fix that. But if you want just the ones about persuasion, you could just say that, and then you'll just get the persuasion related ones. So you could kind of sort these and do what you want, find things you could search on them, you can change like what difficulty or what what power, yeah. And then um, and then any one of these things you click on that and you'll get a Nice little let's see, click, there we go. And just a good little further explanation of what that what that thing is. So that's a really good tool. Yeah, yeah. I think uh I think folks are gonna like that one. Um I don't think there's anywhere else on the internet that's got all that. Um so let's see what else we got. But I I don't even know if that's the as cool as the persuader one, right?

SPEAKER_01

Um that's like that's pretty cool. I don't know, that's hard to beat.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Let me go over here. So you saw the persuasion library. This is the persuasion hit of the day. As you can see, it's not quite working. It should be pulling in that fog of war. But um, since we kind of had that saying in our in our opening, you know, get ready for that persuasion hit of the day. It's like, oh yeah, you know, we totally should have that on our website, a per a daily hit. So there's going to be like some kind of a feature that will line up for you, and you'll be able to see every day something new, you know, to check out. So um, yeah. Alright, and here we go. This is the good stuff that you were talking about, Steven. So it's the persuader of the day. Yeah. And yeah, that's the the master meower Oswin there. She's the one that slips in during the podcast most of the time. She's kind of down here right now. Um then um people can submit their own cats here.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. So you go submit your. Someday could be like they could get sured as the first trader of the day.

SPEAKER_00

That's absolutely the way it's gonna work. So if people need to go in and there uh submit their cats, um, and then I figured that uh yeah, we'll feature um a new cat every day, and then uh we'll pick one for the week and feature on the show.

SPEAKER_01

So awesome. Awesome. That's so cool. Yeah, I like that a lot.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I thought that would be a fun thing. So and you can view the past persuaders, that's Penny the Persuader right there. So you'll be able to review those archives and check them out and try to make the tools easy to use. You know, you can resize things and you know, all that good stuff.

SPEAKER_01

So that's really good. That's cool.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, that's all the goodness spakes, yeah. Oh yeah, this is uh the spotlight video is telling you this is what it should be showing to cure the dawn.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, so that's what I see because when you showed it, it yeah, I I was seeing this.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I don't know if the audio is gonna work for us. Yeah, I don't think the audio is gonna work, but what would you tell someone who knows exactly what to do? Are you hearing that? I won't play the whole thing, but you gotta check this out. Right.

SPEAKER_06

Um here's one. How many of you have ever thought or maybe gagged when you heard somebody else say it that they were trying to find themselves? I need to find myself. I need to I need to figure out who I am, who I am, who I am. Bad idea. Here's a reframe. Instead of being an explorer and trying to figure out who you are, how about authoring yourself to be why you are who you want to be?

SPEAKER_00

That's what I'm doing.

SPEAKER_06

Author your situation. You don't have to discover who you are. You can make yourself who you want to be.

unknown

Author yourself.

SPEAKER_01

Nice.

SPEAKER_00

So I wasn't gonna play that whole thing. Um, because you can go on our website and find it right there and play it yourself, and that's particularly inspiring to me. So yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Great reframe.

SPEAKER_00

So yeah, that's uh pretty much kind of what we had on the docket for uh tonight for a show. Put it right at an hour too. So um I don't know um if there's anything else that you thought maybe we wanted to cover before we uh go into a little after show.

SPEAKER_01

Uh you touched briefly on like uh what's next, like the next book. People could put in like votes for what they want to see, but um do you think uh are you thinking that there's one that you have that you can go with or can we talk about that offline?

SPEAKER_00

Or you I don't know. I I kind of want to let uh folks put in theirs and see what uh what comes out of it, you know. Um if we talk about the website.

SPEAKER_01

I'll tell people to go put in uh what they think if if they have any opinions.

SPEAKER_00

Sounds great. Yeah, that'd be super. Uh I I kind of imagine that we might do this uh open forum um as a thing for next week's show, too. And then maybe hopefully we'll have by then enough suggestions that we might be able to choose a book and maybe um maybe by the next show after that we can kind of have something locked in and start a season.

SPEAKER_01

Sounds great. That's uh great idea. This has been really good. I like this week a lot, like this was fun. So yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Well it helps.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, and everything everything worked except for the votings, but and that's like uh you thankfully it it didn't like lead to a wrong answer, so you still got every answer correct, so that was good.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, uh oh, yeah, I kind of control things. Uh should have I think hit that mode where it allows me to be a um not a presenter but uh an admin or whatever because once you do that, it gives you like certain powers because you had them, remember? Yeah, you had like those superpowers.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah at one point I did.

SPEAKER_00

I uh well even I don't because I'm accessing um on my main computer, I actually access Rumble Studio as a guest, and then over on this computer back here is the one with the real admin kind of stuff. So I always forgive.

SPEAKER_01

You're like the real wizard of Oz, the man behind the curtain.

SPEAKER_00

Um there was one thing I need to bring up here um so that we can end our show. Um I need to first of all close this window that doesn't seem to want to close for me. That's funny. Like that's like well, it's a modal dialogue that had popped up, and um then I wind up sliding it under another thing where I couldn't grab it, but I I've got a hold of it now. So I think we could go ahead and uh end the show and go into our after show. So thanks everybody for hanging out with us tonight, and we'll see you next week at six on Persuasion Club.

SPEAKER_01

Thanks for being here. Have a good week.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, it's gonna keep going. Back in. Hey, good shot. Now we fade out, you too. Yeah, that was awesome. Yeah, that was fun.

SPEAKER_01

That was fun.

SPEAKER_00

Pop this banner up here.

SPEAKER_01

And like you said, everything everything worked, so uh that's fantastic.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, what's up with that? Like, how how do we even do that?

SPEAKER_01

We started on time, technology was buzzing, doing good. I don't know. Yeah, luck, luck was on our side.

SPEAKER_00

I'm gonna go ahead and pop open, um trying to remember. I guess I have to do it from here. Share podcast tool output. Hello. Alright. And then switch to presentation mode. Okay. There we go. That just gets our output for our market.

SPEAKER_01

In a bad way, or uh uh it got like I don't know if it got cleaner or clean flipped, but better better than it was for the whole show. Uh different. Uh maybe a tiny bit like there's a duo, a dual tiny bit of a not an echo, but like a like a re reverb of some kind or a yeah, it's it's good.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. Well hopefully during the show it was okay. I haven't I didn't hear from anybody whether it was uh no, it totally sounded fine.

SPEAKER_01

I I think the clean is uh or I I think it took out like lows and made it a little higher pitch.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, okay. That could have been rumble doing some weird stuff. Rumble's uh it's kind of that way. Well hey, I'll uh some after show music.

SPEAKER_01

Oh yeah. Uh is this from Sonic the Hedgehog? Or is this the Six Flags theme song?

SPEAKER_00

No, it was um the Nion Cat. I don't know if you remember Nion Cat. Oh, yeah, it's a bit video the cat with like the rainbow. Yeah. Yeah, that's the one.

SPEAKER_01

It's like a rainbow trail or a or it like shoots the rainbow beat laser. Yeah. Yeah, that's the one. That's the the one and only.

SPEAKER_00

This is just an adaptation of that. Okay, I need to see if I can turn off this browser control. Um how do I do that? Oh, excuse me.

SPEAKER_01

Compliments to the chef. That's what I always say.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, here we go. And you're excused, and you're excused to work. It's the after show.

SPEAKER_01

Yes.

SPEAKER_00

Hey, I wonder if any of those videos that we I wonder if any of those videos that we tried to play last week will work. You wanted to see?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, sure, yeah. Are you trying them through Rumble or through like uh different servers?

SPEAKER_00

This is our podcast tool, so the it's the same way I tried it last week, so it's probably not going to work, but you never know. Okay, so we were talking about Unity that um in that episode. And let's see. Let's go play.

SPEAKER_01

This is working.

SPEAKER_02

Tiny bit quiet, but now we're going to take you for a crowd. I think I respected you. How could you do something so vicious? It was easy, my dear.

SPEAKER_01

You forget I spent two years.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. So that's that's that's the no unity, in case that wasn't obvious. Was that the real queen? No. She did a good job to play the queen though. Um okay, ready for yeah. So no this is unity. This is the uh the the opposite of dog in the post. That's great, yeah. Here's your Unity. Why does all this shit work tonight when we weren't even talking about that? Well, we kind of were. We actually did the Unity was kind of our topic tonight, too, really.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, the next, you know, that just means that the next time we try it for whatever, it'll work. That's good. That's that's crazy. It it is funny how things tend to work when you least need them to.

SPEAKER_00

This will be like the best episode ever because we weren't even planning on any of this shit working. Um, I could even try to play some of the the other ones. We've got a few other videos um kind of Unity related. You want to check those out? Yeah, let's see. Well, this this was that one from Terminator that didn't work before. I think it might work. Let's see. A little quiet. Yeah, I can't get the volume working. Yeah, that is a tough one.

SPEAKER_01

It's working. I think the audio works.

SPEAKER_00

A little more volume.

SPEAKER_05

I heard that.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Yeah, that one needed a little bit more volume. That's one of the things I'm gonna build is a little um normalizer utility that'll go through and normalize all our audio on our videos so that they all have level uh audio. So uh uh obviously in that particular Yeah, uh that particular clip was kind of demonstrating uh some of the unity that uh was going on as the two there were uh getting to know each other. So um yeah, yep, yep. Okay, and then this is probably ultimate unity right here. Ready? There we go. Nice.

unknown

Thank you so much.

SPEAKER_03

Oh yeah. Oh my god, told you, man. Dude, can we just talk about something? How amazing is rush? Um, excuse me. How amazing is rush? Amazing, amazing, amazing. I was like, oh nah, god red barchetta? Come on. How does Getty still hit those high notes? Voice of an angel. I swear to God, he must drink a lot of tea. Hey, do you think it's cool to be in here? We're the only ones. The all access passes. That means we can go anywhere. Maybe it was a mistake to bring the dublinick. Are you kidding me? Once they sign that, that's gonna be a memento for the rest of your life. Dude, we are in Rush's green room. No, I'm kidding. Happy birthday, One Bray. Thank you, my Brosian. You know, take it to Rush and backstage passes. Best gift ever. Dude, you're worth it. Uh-oh. I'm good to eat you, Sandwich. Hey, that says for Neil only. I wouldn't eat that. That sign is for like roadies and stuff, okay? And besides, the Holy Trinity guys just like us, except they're also the greatest musicians in the history of the world.

SPEAKER_02

I saw four in the mezzanine.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I had three in the front row. Seven females at a rush concept. Must be some kind of a world record.

SPEAKER_03

Whoa. Hey, who are you guys? We uh have the laminate. Uh the lamin, uh sorry, we had the laminate. We thought it was okay to just come in here, but we can totally get out of your hair if you need us to. We're fine. It's fine. Hi, guys. Hello. How do you do? My name is Sidney Fife, and this is uh my man, Peter Claven. Hello. And we're just the biggest rush fans in the history of the planet earth. Because we would do these rubber jan sessions like a man can't.

SPEAKER_04

Your what?

SPEAKER_03

Oh, that's my garage. I'm sorry. Um, you guys should totally come hang out sometime. It's just like guys being guys. We jam out, we hang out. Um I have a jerk off station. You know, the first uh uh song that we ever uh uh jammed out to uh was uh Tom Soyee. And uh we you know we couldn't do the drums. No one can do the drums like you. But we did uh it's like uh what did you call that song? Oh wait no, it's Tom uh you it's called Tom Sawyer, but I love it in the in the song when you go, uh your manande, water ya mean means fry today's Tom Sawy, mean mean fry.

SPEAKER_02

I don't think I say it like that. No, I'm pretty sure you say Tom Sawyer. Hey, is that my sandwich? I told you not to eat Mr. Payard's sandwich. It just appeared.

SPEAKER_03

Are you sure that it's not?

SPEAKER_02

I think he would know.

SPEAKER_03

Are you sure? We're a pretty big fan. No, man, sure, man. Look, guys, it's been a long night. Oh, tote tote, toe, mug out. Uh we'll take I just gotta say though, uh before I go, that was such a sweet ass set. I was I was like, oh freaking freaking out. The whole moving pace. Right, and and then with the when you were when you were playing on the drums is that is that hard?

SPEAKER_02

Yes, it's hard. Now, all right, now yeah, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, no, no, no, no, no, no. Let's get out, let's get out of their head. They're gonna be a good one. You know, no, Jamie, hold on, guys. Listen, it's my friend's birthday today. So I got him tickets to your concert, which are not cheap, by the way. We grew our show beer just for you. So the least you could do is sign my friend's nine string. You got a double neck? You know how to play that thing? Uh uh, well, not not nearly as as good as you, but uh I uh I I I have uh been known to uh slap a debass uh big time. Why is he talking like a leather clock? Everybody says that. No, it's my um it's like a crib it's like my Rasta guy. It's like I'll be a simming. Hey, can I check your laminate there, dude? Oh, it's legit, leaflet. It's all access. Hey Dirk, check this out. Is this a fake or what? Three season access? Come on. Ethan worked at the record label. My buddy Ethan works at Kinkko's.

SPEAKER_04

I'm gonna get someone to come down here and kick your ass unless you get out of here now.

SPEAKER_03

I think we understand we're not wanted. Finally. Thank you for the sandwich. No, leave it. Go, guys. I've already taken a body. So sorry, Rush. There's no dirt in Rush. That's a nickname like Jobin. Go. Who carries around a walkie-talkie? Sorry, Rush. Why? Why did you fake the laminate? Sorry. Okay, I'm not sure. It's almost over because I wanted your birthday to be special. I know, but now Rush thinks we're idiots.

SPEAKER_02

Hey Peter, you forgot something. Happy birthday, man. You keep slapping that bit.

SPEAKER_03

Oh my god. They signed they all signed it. Oh my god. I think we made a real impression on those guys. Of course they signed it. What did I tell you? Peter, the holy triangle. They're regular guys just like us.

SPEAKER_00

Just like us. Regular guys. Yeah, there's your unity right there.

SPEAKER_01

Just like us. Yeah, so.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, all this shit's working tonight. It's uh unfortunately we it wasn't working for our Unity show, but uh maybe hopefully folks came out and and enjoyed that.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, that was great.

SPEAKER_00

Well, those guys, yeah. I get to see Rush again. I don't want to get to see Neil, though he's dead, but uh yeah, that's October. Uh that's that's exciting. It is, yeah. Um, what else do we want to chat about? Um I think the link that I put in the uh banner was from last week. I totally forgot to change it. So if there was anybody that was trying to join our after show, it's not gonna work. I'm sorry.

SPEAKER_01

Um just uh on my mind, I this week uh I'll be doing my uh meeting with my manager about my calf stuff, so I'll be going over the same uh or similar stuff that you went over with your manager last week, so it's coming up. And uh so I'll have an update at some point this week. And for the next show, probably have an update about that.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I'd be interested to hear how that goes for you. Um I I I think um uh the end the intended goal has worked out really well for us. Like I um um I know when we started out, we were just like, you know, we could read this book, you know, or whatever, but somehow we wound up hit hitting this a little harder than anybody probably has.

SPEAKER_01

So seriously, yeah. And like in the most like fun way to do it, I think. Yeah, it's been a good time.

SPEAKER_00

That's like uh definitely one of our rules. Um we we have to we uh what what are the tool the two rules of our podcast, uh which is separate uh from um the eight rules of persuasion club. But uh for our podcast are uh that we we learned something and that we have fun. So if we don't have both those things, then then we stop doing this. So so far we've we're hitting that more.

SPEAKER_01

So even with uh there may be a thing here or there that's like oh shoot, well that didn't work, but like that doesn't make it not fun. Because I feel like uh both being in IT like problem solving is part of life, and it's just like oh uh this that applies to this as well. Like there's problem solving to get things up and running and making it smooth. Well, hey, speaking of difficult.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Speaking of problem solving, I'm gonna throw you a Teams link here. Um pop that open if that if you want. Okay, and you should be getting this glorious tool of okay. And on the right hand side, if you want, you can scroll down and there's an option there with your name on it.

SPEAKER_01

On the right hand side.

SPEAKER_00

There's the button all the way at the bottom of those buttons.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, it the one that says moron? Oh no, no, oh no, I see it. Oh, I see it. I see my name. I see my name.

SPEAKER_00

It was good though. Go ahead and click that moron button if you want. That's that's a fun that's a fun one.

SPEAKER_01

What is this?

SPEAKER_00

Oh, hey.

SPEAKER_01

Oh I see. Very cool.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. So yeah, it was one of those things that we were trying to solve is how do we give Steven his own dong? So like um, we just that's a temporary video. We but yeah. Go ahead and do the uh the moron one.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, the moron, the one I thought was that you know.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and then I had to put this one in here, the the Doc Brown one.

SPEAKER_03

Please excuse the crudity of this model. I didn't have time to build it to scale at a paint.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, so you can actually see how the tool um works too. Um if you um on the right hand side where you s uh where those buttons were, if you go all the way to the right, you'll get like a little slide-out panel.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, uh, let's see. Oh, yeah, okay.

SPEAKER_00

And then you just pick one of those.

SPEAKER_01

Whoa. Hey. Yeah. Did you did you hear that?

SPEAKER_00

Oh, of course I heard it, man.

SPEAKER_01

You could just click to stop it. That's slick.

SPEAKER_00

Yep. And then go ahead and go ahead and start one and then scroll up, and I'll show you a couple of other cool tricks.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Now scroll, yeah, scroll up.

SPEAKER_01

Uh okay.

SPEAKER_00

And you should see I know that was a little loud. Well, when I so um what I meant, uh you gotta let the panel close and then then scroll up. Oh. So but do it out, and then you'll you'll see these fade buttons. They're fade three, fade seven, fade ten. So after you start the music, then play with those play with those buttons.

SPEAKER_01

Fading. Seven. Oh, is that seconds? Like a seven second fade. Yeah. And is that pause it?

SPEAKER_00

Uh no, once it's once it's faded, then it's done. And then you'd have to restart it if you want it to play.

SPEAKER_01

Cool. Okay, I see. So do I choose fade in and then fade out?

SPEAKER_00

So those are different, um, because you'll notice that those have little, it's kind of they're harder to see, but they're actually little video icons. So that's for fading video in and out. And then the others are audio icons.

SPEAKER_01

Now I've started a fade 10.

SPEAKER_00

That's yeah, you like that? Like that. Yeah. This is a like really handy controls, like when you're doing a live show or whatever, and it's like suddenly you're like, okay, I I didn't create this clip as a fadeable clip, but I I need it to fade, you know. And I mean, obviously, if you don't if you have a uh podcast unit, then you just do it manually. But this is all software, so great. Yeah, yeah. This is uh Steven's getting to see some of uh for the first time some of the podcast uh tools that um have been created for the program. Thank you. I'm having fun making this stuff. It's it's like I feel like ooh, I could create stuff, and um whereas before it's it's harder to uh do these kind of projects without having somebody who can create specifications and um do um all of the analysis, all of the other things that you would have to do to kind of create a system diagram and stuff like that. And I've been using AI tools for a lot of this, obviously. I don't know if that's obvious or not, but um for for folks you have to know how to coax AI to to get to this kind of this level of stuff, but you you can coax AI to make some pretty cool shit.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, but and and you have to be pretty good at coaxing it, too, which I feel like is something that you have to like learn through trial and error. I I haven't trialed much. I've uh you know, I've I've done a little bit, but I feel like it having the little experience that I do with it, uh it does it it does uh depending on how good you are at coaxing it, it depends on the like uh reflects in the result, I guess. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

So I would uh and I oh yeah, um well I yeah, thanks for that. Uh I th one of the things I have to say, if anybody who's getting into this and is kind of struggling with trying to figure out like where to go with it, um I would say that just keep using it and keep learning and keep you know, because that that's where you'll you'll learn um the tricks of the trade is by doing it yourself. You you can watch like lots of videos and stuff, which I've never really watched about how to like prompt AI and stuff like that. I just get really pissed at it. And then I make a conclusion.

SPEAKER_01

So question uh so did you hear that they took like Sora away, they like delisted Sora and then, which I believe was like video generative AI. No, it's it's it's kind of crazy that I feel like that's the first AI product that I've heard of that they're just kind of like discontinuing. Um and it made me think like, well, shoot, well, hopefully no one had like super invested into Sora like and had like projects in there. Oh yeah. I feel like one day they just kind of shut it down and and you uh kind of s immediately lose access. And so um I you know, I don't know what your thoughts are on that, but like when it comes to like backing up your your work, like how does that work if you're yeah AI to generate it?

SPEAKER_00

Well, yeah, that's uh definitely a pretty um uh important risk factor slash uh something you have to think about is like will these tools still be here when I need them later on to like support the products and things that I'm making for sure. Um but uh with with that uh so with a lot of the development, what I do is I um will ask for things in the form of downloadable zip files. So I've got like just these archives of zip files from every build that I create. Um so yeah. That's um that's yeah, yeah. Um I would not depend, you know, because theoretically you would think that those builds also exist on the platform because if they're providing them to you, um, and what I've have found is that it's very uh easy for the uh AI to lose track of files that if you haven't talked about them in a while, um then all of a sudden you'll um they'll they'll just be gone. So they don't they their lifespan on their servers is really limited before they go away. Um yeah, um interesting. Yeah, I have all kinds of tips, but um it'd probably be too much for for this kind of show, and they probably would do nothing compared to write a book. Yeah, oh hey, something else that we haven't really even mentioned on the show, but um we've got a book coming out eventually. So it's in the works. It's in the works, yeah. We're doing it, we're we're gonna make it happen. So and uh we can even thank Mr. Lysek for that too, because that was kind of some of the encouragement. I was thinking about it, wasn't sure if I was you know really in the mood to do something like that with all the other stuff we we're doing, but I'm uh I'm inspired.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, that's cool. Thank you, Mr. Lysek.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah, he doesn't even know. We'll just talk about him on our show, he doesn't even know. Yeah, maybe someday he'll someday he will. He'll be like, oh my gosh, those guys. Well, um the the book, so good that they call you a fake. Uh that's I I really like that title because it's like um I feel like that's what I what I want to do is I like want to blow people away and people just like oh holy shit, you know, how do they do all that? You know?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, there's no way they are that you're faking that.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah. But uh you know, we're not we're not faking, but we're definitely uh we're we're so good that they'll just say that we're fakes because they're like, yeah, no, nobody could nobody could do that. Yeah. Watch us, watch us.

SPEAKER_01

That's uh I I used to be uh pretty good at some different video games and you play against your friends and people would be like, You're cheating, you're cheating, and it's like, oh that makes me feel good. You think I'm cheating. I'm winning that much that that they have to call you a cheater. Like that feel you know, that kind of feels good. You know, because I'm not, I wasn't cheating. So, you know, it felt good that they called me a cheater. Now, if I would have been cheating, I would have felt caught and guilty. But because I wasn't cheating, it felt really good. Like, thanks, that's a compliment. You know, I appreciate that.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, that's that's exactly what you wanted. That's the the highest form of flattery, if you ask me. Yeah, yeah, exactly.

SPEAKER_01

Like, hey, thanks for basically saying that I'm so good you think I'm cheating. That's really cool. That's just a pure compliment at this point.

SPEAKER_00

Heck yeah. Well, I don't know about you, my friend, but um wouldn't mind a little more relaxation time this evening before having to hit the job tomorrow.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, let's get out of here. This was a good show. It was a great show. Everything went pretty perfect. Everything did, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

This is when we can end it. Yeah. On a good note. On a very good note, yeah, definitely. Uh this was good. You bet, yeah. Well, thank you, because it's uh it's no fun without you. So we'll go ahead and uh play a little uh something on our way out, and then um I'll hit that 10 second button that we all right.

SPEAKER_01

Well, hey, I'll see you. Good night, everybody throughout the week. Oh yeah. Yep. Bye everyone. Thanks for being here.
